Cedar Hill Studio

"The Lord gave me a little bluebird,
hands to create its images,
and ways to make it help carry a message."

"The whole world's hurting
and needs an encouraging word."

Gretchen Clasby has been a full-time artist since 1967. For twenty-four years she sold her paintings to discerning collectors at art shows throughout TX, OK, LA, KS and NE, doing business as Gretchen Jackson, her name at that time.

In 1972 she opened a very popular Art Gallery and Antique Store – Cedar Hill Studio. This gallery/Studio nestled in the little village of Salado, TX gave Gretchen the opportunity to sell her art and learn the retail business, a knowledge which has served her well. www.cedarhillstudio.com

In 1984 Gretchen created Sonshine Promises; a whimsical, inspirational line of little bluebirds and cardinals which includes: Figurines, Calendars, Greeting Cards, prints, Note Cards & more. This line of cards and gifts were sold wholesale to Christian Bookstores and Gift Shops in all 50 States in the USA, as well as in most English and Spanish speaking countries around the world. www.sonshine-promises.com.

In 1989 Gretchen married, and in 1993 moved to the Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina. In this new location, Cedar Hill Studio, still selling her art work and antiques, also added gifts and home decor and became a very successful anchor store at the North end of the wonderfully revived Downtown area of Waynesville, NC. Her wholesale business, housed on the third floor above the “Studio,” also grew into a very successful business.

In January, 2013, Cedar Hill Studio was beautifully renovated and remodeled, and is now a “must see” 5000+ square foot Gallery full of wonderful items. Representing the works of over 90 fine artists, the gallery contains an exciting array of media and an impressive array of beautiful antiques.

“I am so blessed! I have lived my life as a full-time artist for 50 years, doing what I love, creating art, and giving pleasure to others at the same time. I am so grateful to all the friends and collectors who have been in my life throughout this journey! I have a God who loves me, three wonderful children and 6 fabulous grandchildren… Who could ask for anything more?”
Gretchen Clasby.
